The Impact of Nurse-Patient Communication on Treatment Adherence in Oncology Nursing Practice

Abstract
This study investigates the nuanced relationship between nurse-patient communication dynamics and treatment adherence in oncology nursing practice through a novel computational linguistics framework. While previous research has established the importance of communication in healthcare outcomes, this study introduces an innovative methodology that combines natural language processing, sentiment analysis, and machine learning to quantitatively analyze communication patterns and their correlation with adherence metrics. We developed a proprietary communication assessment tool that captures both verbal and non-verbal communication elements through audio-visual recordings of 245 nurse-patient interactions across three major oncology centers. Our approach uniquely integrates computational analysis with qualitative assessment to identify specific communication patterns that predict treatment adherence.
